Black and White by Colourbrand Black and White by Colourbrand
A number of officials in the Gamma Quadrant, who had turned down requests to joining the Federation, had been killed.

To the Federation, this was astounding - no one had ever refused to join their society, and the fact that they were killed did not make any sense; in fact, it made many view that the Federation was behind it.

A task force was created to investigate the causes; however, numerous dead ends kept cropping up - until a handful of very brave and reckless agents discovered a possible source; an asteroid base in a nebula, deep in the quadrant.

On arrival, the agents discover the place mined, and call in reinforcements. When they arrive, they find the facility is a Federation base of illegal nature; with gusto, the fleet start to destroy the mines and order the base to surrender.

Just then, a number of unregistered, modified, and very powerful Federation ships appear, and without warning, fire on the fleet, obliterating an Ascension Class Starship in the process, with all hands.

From then on, a terrible firefight ensues; Section 31 want their base kept secret, but Star Fleet, outraged at the killing, want justice.

However, as the destruction mounts, the commander of the Federation Fleet orders any ship that can run, to let Star Fleet know of this.

Some try, and fail.

One vessel however, may make it...

----

No excuse; just wanted to do a Star Trek pic full of action, featuring my concept dark ships from Section 31.

Comments and feedback welcome!

Enjoy! :)

F/K....

This was a joy to read - seriously - a real joy :D

I mean it - I was enjoying the reading, I loved the reasoning for going against the Dark ships - treason (never thought of that!).

I love the slaying of the Mirandas, and man...you did good here!!

Thank you so much!!! :D

Oh, and never stop designing ships - broaden your horizons yes, but never stop what you love :)

Thank you for doing this - you have made my day - and I have made this 'featured'.

Oh shucks, you're making me blush!

This was honestly something I did on the rush. It probably could use some refinement and further thought.

And I won't stop designing starships. It's just that I have to put them on the back burner if I really want to become a concept artist like John Eaves, and become a better artist.

Section 31 doesn't do stuff without a reason as Starfleet only gets half the story sometimes if it was officals and S31 risking exposure have to be a direct level threat as I do recall Odo trying to reform the Dominion and many uprising after news of Alpha victory what if some wanted to replace the Dominion there is always more to a plot as taking out S31 now might not stop a second Dominion War

Indeed by the way any chance to see the Dreadnought class TNG and the The Movie Era Vengeance while unlike 2009 the four year was never happen and they never lost Vulcan to order the project into production they waited till close to a full scale war at Khitomer with Charles Tucker as leader of S31 control oh wait you not suppose to know he's still alive in TNG. *Random Neuralizer you forget he's Control maybe but I feel he is.*

No I mean really Tucker maybe still alive

The time has come to act. Following the destructive consequences of the Ware crisis, Admiral Jonathan Archer and Section 31 agent Trip Tucker both attempt to change their institutions to prevent further such tragedies. Archer pushes for a Starfleet directive of non-interference, but he faces opposition from allies within the fleet and unwelcome support from adversaries who wish to drive the Federation into complete isolationism. Meanwhile, Tucker plays a dangerous game against the corrupt leaders of Section 31, hoping to bring down their conspiracy once and for all. But is he willing to jeopardize Archer's efforts–and perhaps the fate of an entire world–in order to win

This is set to come out after Control what would you do if you found out Tucker still alive in TNG and is Control?

Imagine that. Section 31 clandestinely orchestrating a plot control of the Gamma Quadrant, only to be foiled by Starfleet. That would make a great TV series all on its own! Great stuff, Chris!

Excellent work sir! I do love the amount of detail on the defiant class getting ripped apart at the front. Not the mention the large amount of different classes of ships. I do miss the Ranger though wink wink :)

I had to read the story to truly grasp the extraordinary image I was seeing. I found myself thinking..."Great battle sequence, but who is Star Fleet fighting?" Then I read the story and looked again and realized the truth. This idea would actually make a great story: A Possible Federation Civil War?

A Federation civil war would be terrific drama, I think. Section 31 could have its supporters in the Federation's civilian population, and that support would likely be stronger on some worlds than others. Thanks so much for your kind and enthusiastic response. :) (Smile)

Would be nice, but the writers are cowards and won't do it; sides, it needs imagination, and most of Hollywood hates that ;)

Too often, alas, the corporate heads are calling the shots. They want something they think will always work and want to stick to formula, thus leading to stagnation. Wink/Razz

Okay, here's a guess for the ship that escapes-

The USS [mumblemumble], Akyazi-class, NCC-1881- one of the oldest vessels still in service that's not a Miranda- or Excelsior-class. Built for war and speed. The captain has the helmsman point her towards the nearest core federation world, and orders impulse to push the ship to just under warp 1. The transporter officer has a novel idea, only used once before, and it's enacted- the ship's counselor programs the computer to save all collected data from the base, to shut down for about two-and-a-half subjective years, then to activate and begin slowing down while transmitting distress signals. Then, the transporter activates, and she- and the rest of the crew- are saved in the pattern buffer. The lights shut off. The air shuts off. The main radiators activate. The ship is silent and dark as the night around it.

It might not be a reliable system, but it's the best available. Let's hope the computer remembers her instructions in 2.5 years...

Was I right with the class?

Well, I mean, obviously the course to the core world took them through a surprisingly large donut asteroid, making S31 think they crashed while in reality they just lost a nacelle and ejected the warp core to make it seem like they'd crashed catastrophically...
