Always wanted to do a version of the botanical ship in the new BSG and I have always loved the idea of gardens in space thanks to Silent Running.

So this is my version.

Enjoy!

The idea of gardens in space is indeed charming. Dan Simmons presented his very own vision of such a concept in his Hyperion novel, the Yggdrasil ships iirc.

As for your artwork, it reminds me of an old illustration by Peter Elson – unless it was Chris Moore, I don't remember very well atm. Too bad the size is so small: we can barely see the details...

my favorite BSG ship! I'd live on it, rather than on the galactica :)

Love this! the transparency on the domes must have been hard to do it looks great. A lot smarter design than the Trumbull / BSG designs which I love & still watch sometimes. I think all the ships from Silent Running could be replaced with one or two of these. XD

Good work, gonna have to try one of these myself.

The only thing I didn't like about Silent Running was that damn hippie music.
Wait for it, it will be remade, it will be awful---like what that fathead JJ Abrams did to my beloved Star Trek.

This image, however, is wonderful---I imagine each pod to have a different type of garden.

I F***ing hope not - probably be full of shit CGI and nudity!!

The hippy music I can tolerate - a remake I would gladly send satan with a pack of hellhounds to hunt down the producers of any such attrocity. And yer right about Trek - has moments but that does not compensate.

The pods were going to have that but the net result looked too uneven so I did them similar.

Thank you for your impressive words and kind visit :D

The pods themselves would always look alike, coming off an assembly line.
From a distance they would have uniformity, but walking into each you would find a different environment preserved---in short you have it right, in my humble opinion.

As for ST-XI, the kindest thing I can say is 10 minutes into the film my girlfriend's cat threw up, then left the room.
(yeah, for real)
