Charge of the Manticores by Colourbrand Charge of the Manticores by Colourbrand
I like the Battletech world but I am a lover of the vehicles and air machines.

I was introduced to the Battletech world when long before the internet existed, I had to make do with sci-fi from books (NEVER A BAD THING!!!) and one of those universes that took me away from reality was the Battletech Tech Manual 3025.

I loved most of the vehicles in that but of all of them, the ultimate darling to me is the Manticore.

Yes, its not a mech, yes its no match to them, and so forth, but it looks SO good, SO tank!

To me this vehicle just struck me as SO war machine. I love the LRM housing above the turret, the boxy shape.

Of course this is not like the drawing in the book, I just did a spin on it but retain all its lovely features.

So I whipped up this battle scene of Steiner owned (these tanks were mainly in Steiner and Kuritan armies) Manticores going on the offensive with a pair of LCF-R15 Lucifer Medium fighters giving air cover.

Enjoy!

Saw this pic again for the first time in a while. Read your description again. Well, I found something funny about that. I took a pair of book 3025 Manticores (and another pair of tanks) into a battle against a book Atlas, Hammerhands, and a pair of Griffons. Fight didn't look very great at the start, but oh my god. The Manticores lead the charge like the beautiful beasts they are. First I had the Manticores focus on the Atlas while their backup was coming around the building (so both the At and the Hammer were focusing me back. I didnt know where there Griffs were) Before the back up showed up, the Manticores (albeit good rolls helped a wee bit) knocked out about 90% of the Atlas' external armor and then fragged its internals. Immediately afterwards they turned to start shooting at the Hammerhands and did really well against it. Their armor held strong and the reinforcements showed up to clean up the HH. The two Griffons flanked around as well and destroyed one of the Mants, turret locking the other. But it didnt matter. The damage was already too much and the nearly clean backup tanks (I think they were a Patton and a Rommel, my most favorite tank) pulled up with the damaged Manticore and cleaned up the griffs in a few seconds. Manticores are beats of a tank for a damn book tank. Start modding them a bit and they become so nasty pieces of machinery.

The Manticore I think is a very cool machine and I am very glad it kills mechs nicely - so much for "kings of the battlefield".

Oh check out my gallery on non-mech battletech art - may inspire more nasty ideas ;)

Cheers muchly!

Indeed. The Manticore is a wonderful machine and I will continue to run it alongside most of my other vehicles that I commonly use.

And . . . TO THE GALLERY! XP

If more stories leak their way out of my adventures in TableTop, I will bring them to you.

Just read the first line of your description and immediately I started laughing and joking. "So that is why I like this guy's art so much. He's just like me!" Lol. That may be part of it, but the art itself looks so freaking amazing. This included. You should do a piece using the Patton/Rommel or their Gurteltier big brother. Its a wonderful vehicle.

Of course they do ^_^

And yeah. Your welcome for the reminder. Those pair of machines tends to be the most popular in my battletech group.
