Commission: Iwo Jima Class Assault Ship Concept

This is a commission for ’s Iwo Jima Class Assault Ship. Inspired by ’s concept of the TFS Challenger - [link] – that also went into designing the Resortation Class.

When I read the specs I had a challenge on my hands and at the same time had an idea how to proceed – I was inspired by the Prometheus from the new BSG, and worked from that.

The hard part was to make the ship look workable; it does not have Star Trek magical technology; so I went into how to make her work. The front areas are mass airlocks for the transfer and retrieval of subordinate craft and under the nose lays the launch rack for fighters, from there it evolved into this, which I am very proud of.

’s reaction showed I had got what was needed – something intimidating, bulky, strong, powerful and functional – that was great news! BTW check out his page when you can - full of good stuff!
