Commissioned: Starburst Class Medium Carrier by Colourbrand Commissioned: Starburst Class Medium Carrier by Colourbrand
Apologies that I have not been about peeps – been busy with life, and a few commissions – like this :D

This is another of :iconshoguneagle:’s starship concepts for his Shootingstar story. The specs below gave me direction to what this vessel was to be – also :iconshoguneagle: was specific in its design philosophy; streamline, almost alien physiology; Unlike the Hellfire, I had a clearer direction to go with the Starburst and was eaier to do; the only struggle was the plasma weapons that :iconshoguneagle: envisioned and good locations. In the end I decided to have two of them on each dorsal flank, and the third on the belly. Originally the third weapon was to be in the nose but with help from iconShoguneagle: and looking at the idea, I dropped the notion.

I was going to install missiles like the blisters on the Hellfire, but then realised that there was nothing covering the front, so I left the missile tubes there.

As the specs dictate, the Starburst has only fighter hangers; so I did them at an angle in the hull so that they can fly in but not take up too much “runway space”.

Finally the scheme; iconShoguneagle: wanted not just alien looks but also a different paint style to the Terrans – he envisioned swirls, and patches to break up its profiles and to mimic nebulas. This is the same on the Hellfire.

Hope you like - :iconshoguneagle: did :)

Hah- sort of like the companion to the Hellfire, I can see how the two tie together with one another. I must say I'm quite liking the paintjob you're giving
them! When you mentioned the aspect of mimicking nebulae, it really makes a lot of sense!

I can see how the weapons systems here would be challenging to arrange. In between multiple fighter docks and a good, smooth surface to find to put them
on between all the lights and windows (I assume there are many), there'd need to be a strategic place to defend; gotta cover up the weak spots. :D I find it
all works, especially when the thing is usually accompanied by a swarm of fighters ready to go at the drop of a hat!

The vast sensor system it's got is quite impressive- there's no place to hide in space when your enemy has eyes that can see you from anywhere and follow
any trace. Those anti-ship cannons and missile launchers make her a tough one to take on her own, too!

Excellent work overall; my late response doesn't give it the justice it deserves. :)

Hehe ;)

Well sir this was difficult as you have pointed out; the sleak design and the weapon locations. I am glad ou are getting the idea here with what I envision; she is a sleek killer but she is also very well protected :)

Hey...no worries sir - I ain't speedy Gonzales myself :)

Cheers always for your grand support :D

No kidding! It must have taken some grand thought- I think I'd have been sitting there for a fair long time trying to come up with something. Very much so, after all
a killer does need her allies. Nothing like a real sleek design to really rock the senses :D

The pleasure is mine!

Neat. The design makes a great first impression and those engine bells REALLY mean business!!! 3.5 gees - yep, that'll git ya goin'! I like the recessed detail in the bow design. It's striking.

Really? WOAH! I am impressed!

That concept... I really have no idea where it came from except the need to do it more "alien".

Alliance ships are neither 'organic' or are they "Alien" They are designed to be different from Terran ships - a sort of two finger salute to their human heritage.

What great words sir - thank you :D
