The story involves a pair of dropships (Union Class) breaking a blockade held by a pair of Vincent Class Corvettes. To succeed, a squadron of two Machete and four Sounder Aerospace fighters engage them allowing the vunerable dropships to head to the world.
As one can see, its a heck of a battle.
It was a task but a pleasure - commissions makes one test themselves in their ability, the limits of creativity, and yield great new skills.
It is brilliant to do and a pleasure!
For you tech heads, the Sounders and the Machetes are custom designs.
Like to hear your thoughts people!
"Tell Blake you're sorry when you see him!" Blam blam blam blam
I only wish the space combat in the BT novels had this level of energy and excitement... but in those stories, WarShips just kept on getting punked by boarding parties or turncoat officers seizing control at the worst possible moment. The turncoats were signposted before they go bad by the writers describing them as 'having the eyes of a killer' and similarly subtle cues.
This kind of action image makes me want to get a copy of that game and start blowing things up...
Oh F***ing hell....HAHAHAH sorry reading this has made me laugh and wince; sounds like a plot to real iffy story writing; Uber warship enters an area "about to target shit Captain" cue the mutinous crewmember! LMAO!! PMSL!!!
Hey, if I can get you to go back and blow up shit - SUPERB
Thanks sir - and cheers for the fave too
You're very welcome!
The (few) Btech novels I read that featured Warships - before I gave them all away to a charity store - made them out to be worse than f***ing useless. "No! Let's just focus on the f***ing BattleMechs! Keep the big, slow, stupid Warships off-stage by having their crews mutiny! The (doomed) heroes on the ground won't have any more reinforcements come in because the warships will blow them all up!! Wow, this is just so 'full of win' I've got to go lie down!"
And as for the idiotic Free Skye Rebellion. I mean, rebellion(s). Things a bit too calm and peaceful? Not enough betrayal and treachery going on these past couple of months? No problem - just have the Isle of Skye rebel again! I lost track of how many times the House Steiner military rebuilt and re-armed 'Mech regiments in the Skye region... and conveniently ignored the small issue of those regiments' officers being rabid Skye nationalists with security-risk notations up the wazzoo.
"Well, they might rebel... but it's not very likely, is it?" Then they rebel. Again.
F*** me, that is so bang on.
The future of warfare are giant manned robots...WHAT!?!?!?
Look around! The real future of warfare is air power.
Reading the above is just a sad excuse to give the unimpressive hero or character a PHENOMENAL chance to escape/win. This is the result of cheap, crap, naive poor writing done by people with no imagination, dare, or gumption.
And as for the peace and rebellion shit...that is the same; like a nasty manufacture shit record stuck on repeat - well said sir - VERY well said
The Free Skye Rebellion made me want to scream. I mean... Re-arm those "security risk" units? Give them JumpShips? Post them in (or close to) the area they want to liberate from the Oppressive Yoke of Steiner Rule?
And then have them do it all over again? Come on... Couldn't the writers have come up with something that didn't read like a formulaic plot with "(Insert Skye Rebel Leader's Name Here) is planning to seize the Mech factories of Hesperus II" at the top of the page??
I guess they couldn't at that...
Send in the Jaeger - mean mechs!
(as usual )
i only dont like the colors at all, i wished it had some (unifying) filter over it.
dont know if you get what i mean, but it all looks flat (?) like cut out pieces from different pictures. not that the lighting wouldnt make sense, it very well fits. but its too basic maybe. the colors are too original and clear (the red , the blu, the green).
dunno if you get me
and i know, that filtering a piece might loose you some details (especially in color work), but i think it will add in mood.
and of course your work is great anyhow
steven can be happy to have such a piece of art
cheers, all the best to you
I think I can do better now but we all start from scribbles.
Always a pleasure and I do welcome your feedback - its damn good
to have given everything
and even though i know its not perfect, as long as the other one is satisfied, theres not much energy any more to change it towards the perfectionism.
but you are doing great anyway dear sir
As far as missiles, looks like they've already scored a few times to me!
I never played the game much (nobody else here was into mecha) but, I LOVE the novels. (Especially the Gray Death Legion Saga) Love this! ROCK ON!
Thank you for visitig - most appreciated
Always a pleasure!
Took Dorian 30 minutes just to roll all those dice.
"Scrap one Word of Blake Vincent Precentor. Major damage to the second. Your insertion vector is clear, get our troops dirtside. We'll deal with the rest of these traitors!"
Seriously though, when we actually did this in the game of CBT the poor trio of Wobbie players thought we were insane running straight at the Vincents with just fighters. It did take half an hour to roll all them dice. But it was the best half hour ever watching them cross all those armour boxes off and then the icing on the cake was just watching them cry in their tea.
It's a stunning piece of art. You did a great job of captring the moment that everything went FUBAR for the WoB.
Tower: Luke, you dumbass, turn your targeting computer back on!
ALWAYS a pleasure sir!
Your fire effects are stunning and its a delight to look at. It could even cooler if you made the fighters shooting too, fireng a few missiles and such. But its only an ideia. The pic is just awesome.
I wanted to but it would have been too much clutter. Ah, always next time
Thanks for popping by
No problem. My pleasure.
Just three rotary autocannons! And those don't have any 'color' in space.
3 rotary? Must be a best of a fighter!
Not a good day for the Word of Blake.
Not a good day, indeed.
Somehow, I dont think a totally "dark" faction would actually fit in the BT setting. Its a universe about what makes humans humans, after all.
