"Tell Blake you're sorry when you see him!" Blam blam blam blam
I only wish the space combat in the BT novels had this level of energy and excitement... but in those stories, WarShips just kept on getting punked by boarding parties or turncoat officers seizing control at the worst possible moment. The turncoats were signposted before they go bad by the writers describing them as 'having the eyes of a killer' and similarly subtle cues.
This kind of action image makes me want to get a copy of that game and start blowing things up...
You're very welcome!
The (few) Btech novels I read that featured Warships - before I gave them all away to a charity store - made them out to be worse than f***ing useless. "No! Let's just focus on the f***ing BattleMechs! Keep the big, slow, stupid Warships off-stage by having their crews mutiny! The (doomed) heroes on the ground won't have any more reinforcements come in because the warships will blow them all up!! Wow, this is just so 'full of win' I've got to go lie down!"
And as for the idiotic Free Skye Rebellion. I mean, rebellion(s). Things a bit too calm and peaceful? Not enough betrayal and treachery going on these past couple of months? No problem - just have the Isle of Skye rebel again! I lost track of how many times the House Steiner military rebuilt and re-armed 'Mech regiments in the Skye region... and conveniently ignored the small issue of those regiments' officers being rabid Skye nationalists with security-risk notations up the wazzoo.
"Well, they might rebel... but it's not very likely, is it?" Then they rebel. Again.
The Free Skye Rebellion made me want to scream. I mean... Re-arm those "security risk" units? Give them JumpShips? Post them in (or close to) the area they want to liberate from the Oppressive Yoke of Steiner Rule?
And then have them do it all over again? Come on... Couldn't the writers have come up with something that didn't read like a formulaic plot with "(Insert Skye Rebel Leader's Name Here) is planning to seize the Mech factories of Hesperus II" at the top of the page??
I guess they couldn't at that...
