Transit in Trouble by Colourbrand Transit in Trouble by Colourbrand
Time to go out with a bang methinks….

A strikeforce of Capellan Confederation TR-10 Transits make an attack on a Fed-Com World during Operation: Thunderstrike. Due to the falling out of the two factions that make the Federated Commonwealth, the Capellans take advantage and make an attack on an aerospace port.

The leader of the attackers spearheads the charge, and initially they are successful as numerous AC/20 shots land on the buildings below, obliterating them. Alas the place is well defended, and in that moment, his Transit gets a face full of defensive fire.

With his aerospace fighter damaged and going down, the proud Capellan squadron leader keeps fighting, hoping to inspire his team to carry on…

I based this pic off this epic piece of art by :iconukitakumuki: [link]

I saw this and I had to do a pic similar; I loved that piece of art; I was inspired. I thought about doing a version with a Y-Wing or Galaxy Ranger Interceptor, but the Transit was perfect; can see its long body, the weapons, and it looked the part.

I was going to add bombs and such, and it’s a fact that battletech fighters carry external ordnance, but that would be a mimic too far I thought.

One thing many will note is that I did not give the fighters (apart from one) thrust; it just looked better. Sides, the trails give indication to movement.

Like to hear your thoughts ;)

Enjoy!!

He's coming apart at the seams, with every last alarm in his cockpit going off, fuel spilling out... and he's still firing at a FedCom ground target, blasting it to shreds with that monster autocannon. In about five or six seconds, he's going to pile his ride into that target...

Few things are quite as dangerous in the BattleTech 'verse as a Capellan Aerojock, and you've captured that perfectly.

There are a great many references to the "service to the state comes first" mindset that pervades the Capellan armed forces. It's not just the fighter pilots.

Still, I suppose if your head of state/commander-in-chief has a documented family history of extreme insanity and a reputation for cruelty, being a dedicated servant of the Confederation may just be a survival measure.

Sweet! More Aerospace combat! I'm actually a pretty big fan of the Corsair, and equally disdainful of the clumsy looking Transit, so this pic makes me happy! ^^

Nice looking; especially like the subtle background! I'd work a bit more on the texture, however. Each form is paired with something that looks like a blurry texture from a game due to the light not catching on crevices.

Brilliant. Much better than the previous one. Yeah the main flagship looks a lot like a Y-Wing. And NOOOOO!!!! HE'S GOING DOWN!!!! At least he's trying to encourage his teammates. Besdies, he's a true leader: he didn't try to run away. HE fought till the last second, and refused to abandon his comrades. A true leader!!!

Real as life itself. In 100 years will see scenes how are you in the real world. Jules Verne did the same. He took the ordinary and transported 100 years into the future. ;)

Y'know I can't think of a time when I've ever seen anyone do artwork featuring the TR-10. Was there a reason behind the choice of craft?

It's great work though, love it.

To be honest most artists who do the BT world seldom do Aeros, ships or anything EXCEPT battlemechs! Like to be different me. Sides I went with the Transit because I like the design; most aeros in the BT world are bluntly - SHIT! Stupid designs that have no means or merrit; the Transit is one of the few and I like its sleek missile shape. In addition, it suited this pic - nothing else came close. I am glad you love this though and thank you always for your great support :D

Well you're not wrong. most folks do art with the 'Mechs, but as we know hey are the stars of the show. It's great to see someone create art that doesn't feature them.

However I do think your comment about on the choice of the Transit being the only one that worked is wrong, There's a fair few designs that would work, such as the Stuka, however you've already used that one so I can understand that not being the craft you used. But I do think the Firebird with it's F-22 inspired look would also fit the bill very well. though it sucks as design it looks cool. ;)

Yeah I agree, but it can get rather annoying that every BT pic is a "Mech this" and "Mech that". In addition, its always the obvious mechs; Altases, Mad Cats, Marauders....there are over 200 designs to pick from but its always them - I know they are popular but it can be tedious. Hence why I do them; a change is as good as a rest. As for the choice, I went with the Transit because for a start there is bugger all aerospace art out there; and the Transit is a Liao craft meaning it would get no airtime!! Although I did consider others, they look too plane-like. I mean the Firebird does look like an F-22 and many would say. Transit's very distinctive :)

Well regardless of your choices it's still a great bit of art that captures the fighting brilliantly.

Though I do agree. I'm a bit fed up of the 'staples' myself. how come no one ever does artwork of some of the cooler designs like the Raijin, Excalibur, Wraith (my ComStar bias again ;) ), or the coolest quad ever, the Tarantula. There's only so many Atlas, Highlanders, Hunchbacks or unseen Marauders and Battlemasters we can handle.

Yeah the Transit is distinctive, though maybe not as distinctive as the Firestorm! ;p

I saw these mechs you mentioned - and dammit - curse your beautiful hide - I like this Tarantula; I wonder if it was inspired by the Proximan weapon of the same name.... The Excalibur for reasons I cannot fathom looks like a tap dancer!! Looked up the Firestorm - nothing my friend :(

Yep the ZPH-1A Is easily one of the coolest 'Mechs ever. and by far the coolest quad. It's insanely fast for a quad, heck for any mech really, but given its scout role that's to be expected. Add in the Lateral shift that quads are capable of then it becomes a monster in battle despite its minimal weapon systems. The 1A is a dangerous beasty but the 4A is a whole other league. Best not consider how deadly our ZPH-7A which is kinda like the 4A but it doesn't have the ER PPC it's swaps that system for a light EMP and a pair of SRM-2s, and replaces the C3 with an ECM but still maintains it's insane 180kph with MASC. It makes Blakist's cry. (No we do NOT play nice with toaster huggers! :D)

As for the Excalibur, yeah it is kinda odd looking but that's what makes it cool.

And lastly, I think you looked in the wrong place for the Firestorm. You shold have looked in my gallery for the thing that is based on the coolest starfighter ever... ;)

Isn't the feeling of inspiration just such an incredible thing? I love how this looks similar to
Ukitakumuki's, but with your own personal touch.

The perspective here is marvellous. I love how you look at the ship in contrast to the horizon
below, and you feel like you are in one of those little fighters, careening to Earth out of control. :D

Colour scheme is excellent- and the lack of thrust on the fighters was a good choice!

Well that was down to Ukitakumuki's perception - he made it like that - I just mimiced and yes it does feel like its all about to crash into the dirt! I am glad you agree on the lack of thrust - just made it look cartoony - this works. Thank you very much sir for your kind words and great support :D
