Old Earth

Description

"Old Earth: Deep within the quarantine zone that extends out approximately 2 light-years from Sol exists Earth, the former homeworld of the human race.

At the peak of its influence, the population of the planet had reached over 14 billion, and the Earth Commonwealth had settled much of the solar system, to include Mercury, Venus, Mars, the prominent asteroids in the belt, and several of the moons of Jupiter and Saturn.

Unfortunately, political and economic disparities between the EC and its colonies grew, and independence movements blossomed on several of the colonies. Heavy-handed law enforcement and brutal crackdowns on the colonists only fueled the independence movement and before long, an all-out civil war broke out between the Commonwealth and the Coalition of the Solar System.

At the climax of the war, both sides unleashed anti-matter weapons which rendered Earth uninhabitable and nearly wiped out the other settlements in the system.

The survivors launched an evacuation fleet of slower-than-light colony ships to the nearest stars in hopes of finding a new home and a future for the human race. Today, the Sol star system remains under strict quarantine to allow Earth to recover from the devastation of the Solar System War."

Once again another depiction of a planet designed by :iconshoguneagle: and this was very challenging to make the world feel rather rubbish and wasted - but I think I pulled it off :)

Doing this to learn and enhance my planet making skills and also to help the lad's story have weight.

Love to hear your thoughts :D

I have five questions stemming from this picture.

1. Which moons of Jupiter and Saturn were settled.

2. By prominent asteroids, do you mean asteroids of a certain size or larger?

3. Was the Moon colonized as well?

4. Were the settled moons terraformed?

5. Were Mercury, Venus, the Moon, and Mars terraformed?

If the answers to these questions should be obvious, then I'm sorry for being dense.
