Description
The USS Wisp, is sent on a science mission, to calalogue an unusual cloud system in an unknown area in of the Gamma Quadrant.
On approach, the crew see a vast nebulosity, rich in colourful hues. The desire to investigate is infectious; thus, they proceed.
However, as they approach, sensors then start to detect traces of duratanium, and other numerous compounds that are the materials of a Star Fleet Hull.
Acting on their own initiative, the crew set forth to investigate.
On arrival, on the periphery of the haze, they discover a solar system full of barren worlds, with a single star.
Just as they pass a planetoid, the crew detect a very strong source of materials.
Approaching with excitement but caution, the crew discover a wreck; initial thoughts presume it to be a ship destroyed by the Dominion, prior to the war. However, dating sensors reveal the ship to be over one hundred years old.
When they arrive, the crew are stunned.
The wreck is beyond salvation, the ship long destroyed, but the design is a shock because all recognize it.
It is an Ares class, the warships used at Axanar.
Despite sensors checking the hull, the crew know that no one can be alive. the Ares is a gutted wreck, a relic of a past life important in Federation history.
A shuttle is sent to see if there is anything that can be salvaged for posterity.
As the pod goes over, speculation is rampant.
The Ares' appearance could be down to the fact the ship may have stumbled on the Bajoran Wormhole.
There is no doubt that no one is alive; shuttles had no range, and there are no M-Type planets around for light years.
As for how it was destroyed, no one is sure; the hull is riddled with weapons fire impacts, but they match no known armament; and the shots are very few in nature, suggesting that who fired, had weapons powerful enough to smash through shields and gut the ship.
The crew realize that somewhere out there, is a force more powerful than them...
-------
Just felt in the mood for one fan-pic, per se. and had to get it out of my system;....
This depicts the venerable favourite, the Wisp, on a mission into the fabled Gamma Quadrant.
I based this version on designs.
I did the Ares, because loads love the Ares, and rave on about it's prowess. Me, I wanted to do something different with that ship; and that is it defeated; why?
Simple - a different spin; not all heroes live or win. Also I wanted to do a derelict.
Comments and feedbacks welcome.
Enjoy!
